Glossybox NARS edition

Hi Everyone,
So last week I was one of the lucky ones who managed to get one of the limited edition NARS Glossyboxes. I had the same problem everyone else had, where it still said I was too early on the link sent out, but I found the box to buy under a limited edition tab of their website and added it to my basket.

It came really quickly, (it was actually delivered on Friday) but I was away this weekend so this is the first chance I’ve had to post my review.
First impressions of the box were a bit disappointing, I was expecting something a little more professional looking and it just seemed a bit dull and scuffed but once I opened it up I was all excited again.

Black ribbons and tissue paper are much more what I was expecting.
The box is filled with five products, all sample size.

It contains the Audacious mascara, the Larger than Life eyeliner in via veneto, the Multiple in orgasm, the Blush also in orgasm and the Satin Lip Pencil in rikugien. (Whatever that means)

I really like that it’s all makeup, my favourite kind of beauty product! And I really like that the box contains the right products for a full look. Let’s take the products one by one shall we?

First up is the Larger than Life, long wear eyeliner. It has a screw bottom, which I like a lot more than one you might sharpen. It gives a strong defined line, but I’m not so sure about the ‘long wear’ claim. I forgot I was wearing it and rubbed my eye and was left with a massive black smudge. Not ideal.

I paired it with the Audacious mascara, which I actually quite liked. Every mascara I try is inevitably compared to Benefit’s They’re Real, which has been my favourite for a really long time but this was a favourable comparison. The brush is really good at coating every. single. lash. and it made them seem very long. I think it’s more of a going out mascara than a day to day look but I was very impressed.

The blush is pretty small, but so so cute. It’s a lovely natural colour too and builds up nicely. I hate a blusher than you brush on once and then immediately want to scrub off because it’s too harsh or strong looking. This is perfect. Subtle but buildable. I will definitely be investing in a full sized blush from NARS!

The Satin Lip Pencil is a shimmery nude/pink, that I wasn’t too keen on until I actually put it on my lips. It’s so moisturising!
At this time of year that’s even more important than normal, and I have a few lip pencils that are similar colours but are sticky or drying. They don’t make your lips look their best but this one has just shot straight to the top of my favourites list.
It’s probably not going to leave my bag all winter.

The last sample is the muliple, which can supposedly be used on cheekbones, lips, eyes and your body for a bit of highlighting and shimmer. (It’s the bottom swatch in the picture above).

I used it as a highlighter to start with but found it a bit too pink for my skin tone and also a bit too glittery. I like a good shimmer don’t get me wrong but I felt a bit like I had rolled one of those 90’s body glitter roller balls across my cheeks.
I’m exaggerating but I think it will definitely take some getting used to. It could be great for a bit of highlighting across your décolletage but it was probably my least favourite of the samples in my box. It probably all stems back to my dislike of products that do a bit of everything but nothing really well.

Overall though, I really love the box. And it’s nice to have an extra treat this month. Hopefully Glossybox will do more collabs like this in the future.
Tell me, did you get the NARS Glossybox?
What did you think?
